knitting
There's nothing like snow and a fireplace to get you knitting again. I spent 2 weeks at Big White in Kelowna, BC. It snowed everyday. Friends stayed with us for the first week and it was wonderful to visit and hang w/ another reluctant skier. I was very excited to go to Art of Yarn, and gratefully fondled yarn and perused patterns for a few hours. My yarn stash has not been shrinking, so I was very good and didn't buy too much. The shop had a new-to-me brand, Mirasol. I love the colors in the skeins of this Hacho that I bought, I thought they would make perfect socks for my 12 yo. Should've paid more attention to the fiber content and care instructions, but I didn't. Hand-washing socks is expecting too much in my house, so I'm now knitting a cap. Here's a swatch:
Knit on US 6 needles. From the bottom up: st st, 4 x 4 rib, mistake stitch rib, 3 x 2 rib with moss stitch at sides and top. Deciding between st st w/ roll brim and the 3 x 2 rib. Love the off white and turquoise pooling.
